The Watershed Nature Center is home to over 40 acres of prairie, forest, and wetland habitats. The center features paved walking trails, a raised marsh walk, and a welcome center. The Watershed is dedicated to providing environmental education, passive recreation, and enjoyment of native habitats for Edwardsville and surrounding communities. We are dedicated to improving our park to ensure our community has adequate access to nature - stay tuned for important park updates.
The Watershed Nature Center is located at 1591 Tower Avenue, behind Nelson Elementary School, adjacent to Hoppe Park. Our trails are open 365 days a year, dusk till dawn. The Watershed Visitors Center, located at the entrance to the preserve, serves as a classroom for our many learning programs and a welcome center for visitors. The Watershed Nature Center building is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 12-4 pm, by appointment, and during special events.
The Watershed is owned by the City of Edwardsville, managed by the Nature Preserve Foundation, Inc., and supported by a local community of volunteers and sponsors. The Watershed Nature Center is a vital part of the Cahokia Creek watershed. Your support helps us ensure this essential, ecological resource is available to our community for generations to come.
