Eclipse Workshop

Get Eclipse Ready with the Watershed Nature Center!

Join us for this tremendous opportunity for parents, teachers, families, community leaders, and anyone interested - as we learn about the upcoming eclipse. Open to the public - registration required.

Educator Workshop 10:00 am - 11:00 am
• Learn about the moon phases and how they relate to events like Augusts’ solar eclipse.
• Create your own lunar and solar eclipses with tangible models to learn the differences and understand the mechanics.
• Get a set of solar viewing glasses for your students and learn how to make and use a pinhole camera for the eclipse event.

Family-Friendly Hour 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
• Create your own moon phases from Oreos for a delicious learning model.
• Make an “eclipse dance” and poem as you join NASA fans from across the country in celebrating the eclipse.
• Challenge yourself with math activities to figure out how far away the Moon is from the Earth, how the smaller Moon can cover the Sun, and seeing how fast the eclipse’s shadow will be moving.
